Edward Leroy Spain, age 88, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away the evening of Saturday, March 1, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.

Edward was born on October 10, 1936 in Sharon Township, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Myrll (McKinney) Spain. He married Aileen Kay (Guffey) on January 16, 1955 in Mississippi. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Leroy ran the bait house in St. Elmo for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Aileen Spain of St. Elmo; son, Kevin Spain (wife Julie) of Effingham; daughter, Pam Haslett (husband Tim) of St. Elmo; sister, Linda Miller of South Carolina; grandchildren, Travis Haslett, Tyler Haslett, Toby Haslett (Jeni), Traci Thoele (Josh), Taylor Forston (Neal), Grant Green (Trisha), Matt Green; great-grandchildren, Silas Haslett, Parker Haslett, Saylor Haslett, Mason Thoele, Colsen Thoele, Carter Thoele, Easton Green, Riggs Green, Harper Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Myrll Spain; sons, David and Terry Spain; brother, Dellas Spain.
