Jack Burton 86, of rural Watson, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 7:10 AM Wednesday February 26, 2025 at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, Illinois.

He was born June 9, 1938 in Cumberland County, Illinois the son of Thurl and Nellie (Prince) Burton. Jack graduated from Cumberland High School. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force from January of 1957 until May of 1960 as a airframe repairman. Then he served in the Air Force Reserves until January of 1963. Mr. Burton was a member of the IBEW Local 702 and worked as a Journeyman Lineman from August 1961 until June 2000. Mr. Burton married Wilma Lindsay (Renchen) in 1968, Wilma passed away March 25, 2024. He later married Diana Wood (Sellers) in September 1992 she passed away May 6, 2022. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, ginseng and mushroom hunting and spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Burton is survived by his son, David Burton (Jenny) of Stewardson, Illinois; stepsons, Chris Lindsay (Becky Williams) of Charleston, Illinois, Tim Lindsay (Kathy) of Toledo, Illinois and Patrick Lindsay (Christy) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, Lindsay Young (Dakota) of Creal Springs, Illinois, Nicholas Burton of St. Louis, Missouri, Jack Burton of rural Watson, Illinois, Adam Burton (Mackenzie) of Strasburg, Illinois, Jarrett Lindsay (Ashley) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Lee Lindsay-Berns (Christian) of Mattoon, Illinois; brother, Paul Burton of rural Toledo, Illinois; and sister, Faye Welch of Mattoon, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by Parents; stepson, Sean Domingue; brothers, Lester, Marion, Carl, Gilbert, Thurl Jr. and Henry Burton; sisters, Vivian Cross, Maxine Cather, Lucille Starwalt, Eunice Starwalt and Joan Cross.

Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday March 3, 2025 in the First Christian Church of Neoga in Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday March 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM also in the Church. Memorials are suggested to the Willow Breeze Hospice House of Mattoon, Illinois.
