 Bertha May Westendorf, age 90, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 12:09 PM - Thursday, February 27, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Saint Jacob, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove, Illinois (16987 North 200th Street, Teutopolis, Illinois 62467).  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM – Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Saint Joseph Parish Center.  A private family burial will be in the Saint Joseph Cemetery in Pesotum, Illinois.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left by clicking here.

Bertha May was born on August 4, 1934, in Newton, Illinois, the daughter of Fie Elizabeth (Gass) Green Clark. She married Leroy William Westendorf on November 28, 1953, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dieterich, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on November 29, 2023. 

Bertha May was a homemaker, wife and mother.  She also did childcare and was a cake decorator.  She was a member of the Saint Isidore Parish. 

Bertha May is survived by:

Children – Gail (wife Linda) Westendorf of Decatur, Illinois; Mary Wilson of Highland, Illinois; and Janet (husband Maurice) Kocher of St Jacob, Illinois.

Grandchildren -Brian (wife Kristi) Westendorf, Sean (husband Brian) James, Teri Kallal, Michael (wife Lauren) Volk, Justin (wife Kelley) Kocher, Kate (husband Gary) Spencer, Joyce (husband Joe) Thole, and Karen (husband Brandon) Hopp.

Great Grandchildren – Luke and Evan Westendorf, Nathan and Brayden James, Alyssa, Guinevere, Amber, Benjamin, Vivienne, and Scarlett Volk, Hannah, Gavin and Noah Kocher, Ryan Spencer, Charlotte and Evelyn Thole, and Ethan Hopp.

Sister – Lois (Jerry) Stout of Chula, Missouri

Bertha May was preceded in death by her mother, son-in-law Richard Wilson, siblings Robert Green, Nellie Alvis and Thelma Taylor.
