
Eldon D. Galloway (86) of Newton

Eldon D. Galloway age 86, of Newton passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Eldon’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Scott Avenue Christian Church with Kevin Colclasure, Colin Smith and Brad Mulvey officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, in the church. Burial will be in the Headyville Cemetery, rural Jasper County. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eldon was born on September 5, 1938, in Jasper County, Illinois one of four sons born to Lindsey C. and Violet E. (Matlock) Galloway. On November 1, 1974, Eldon married Lola M. Wattles. She survives. For eight years, Eldon served his country in the U. S. Army Reserves. He was an agent-owner of Galloway Insurance in Newton. In addition to the insurance business, Eldon carpentered for many years. His memberships include the Scott Avenue Chrisitan Church and the Newton Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed sports and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinal and Illini fan.
Eldon will be loved and remembered by his wife of fifty years, Lola M. Galloway of Newton; children, Cheri (Charles) Allen of Palacios, FL, Steven (Cynthia) Galloway of St. Charles, IL, and Jeff (Kelley) Galloway of Newton; grandchildren Julie Galloway, Aaron Galloway, Matthew Galloway, Meredith Galloway, Jacqueline Galloway, Sam Galloway, Ben Allen, Rachel Allen and Chase Galloway; great-grandchildren, Rylie, Aliyah, Liam, Ellery, Kinsley and Grant Galloway; brothers, Leo (Donna) Galloway, Lindell (Linda) Galloway and David (Jenny) Galloway all of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Christy Galloway.
