
Bernadine Mattingly (93) of West Liberty

Bernadine Marie Mattingly age 93, of West Liberty, Illinois passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at her home.
Private family services will be held. Bernadine will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ste. Marie, Illinois.
Bernadine was born on August 14, 1931, in Olney, Illinois the daughter of Mathias “Matt” and Laura A. (Schneider) Derler. In August on 1983, Bernadine married John William “Bill” Mattingly. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2010. In addition to being a wife, mother and grandmother, Bernadine worked in housekeeping at Richland Memorial Hospital. She later worked as a nurse’s aide at Burgin Manor until her retirement. Bernadine was a member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time, she loved using her creative talents. She loved to quilt, paint and sew. She could be found mending items for many of the neighbors around Ste. Marie. She loved making windchimes, using a variety of items from beads to silverware to make just the right tones. She also enjoyed gardening and was known to be a wonderful cook.
Bernadine will be loved and remembered by her son Allen Ederer of West Liberty; grandsons Brad Ederer, wife Becky of Olney and Brian Ederer and wife Shawna of Willow Hill; three great grandchildren, Alex Ederer, Kyle Shultz and Tera Ederer; great great-grandchild Ashlynn Ederer and sister Dorothy Hardig of Newton.
Her parents, daughter-in-law Carol Ederer and sisters Viola Derler, Mary Jolly, and Alice Hartley preceded her in death.
