Brenda Gail Pocrnich (66) of Effingham

Brenda Gail Pocrnich, 66, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at home with her daughter by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Loy Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family. Gail was born on September 12, 1958, in Joliet, IL, the daughter of Charles Stirrett and Brenda (Burk) McMechan. She married Marty Pocrnich on August 26, 1978 and had a wonderful marriage which was something to be jealous of. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2016. Gail was a great wife and mother who spoiled her daughter with love. Gail loved her music and loved playing it loud. She enjoyed collecting vinyl records, taking photos, scrapbooking and making photo albums. She also enjoyed just relaxing and watching TV. In her younger days she enjoyed cooking. Gail was a fan of NASCAR, muscle cars, and anything with a motor. She enjoyed riding four wheelers and the Harley with Marty. Gail worked for years as the head housekeeper at the Holiday Inn Express.

Gail is survived by her daughter, Stefanie Pocrnich; sister, Patty Logue; brothers, Chuck Stirrett and Darrin Stirrett; brothers-in-law, Kevin Pocrnich and Travis Pocrnich; sisters-in-law, Christel Hutson, Lee Ann Smith, and Cyndi Malick; and family friend, Roger Shick Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marty; in-laws, Mark and Irene Pocrnich; brother-in-law, Timmy Pocrnich; and nephews, Saxon Smith and Howard Lee Hutson.
