Nancy L. Esker, age 75, of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025 after a long medical battle that she endured bravely.

Nancy or Mimi, as she was affectionately known by her grandkids, was born on December 2, 1949 to Claire Fruchtl and Peter Laub in Chicago, IL. She married Robert W. Esker (deceased) on January 8, 1972.

They had a daughter, Valerie Anne, and a son-in-law, Michael Koch along with three grandkids, Jack, Ethan and Charlotte Koch. Siblings include Karen Cummins of Springfield, IL, Mary Lu (Kyle) Pettyjohn of Sigel, IL and brother Marty Laub (deceased).

Nancy was a graduate of Teutopolis High School, class of 1967. She was also a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. She was a teacher at St. Anthony Grade School and was a high school guidance counselor at Vandalia Community High School. She finished out her career as a high school guidance counselor at Effingham High School. She was a lifelong educator. Nancy loved her grandkids deeply and enjoyed taking them on trips and to Target.

Memorials can be made to Sigel St. Michael's School. A private family service will be held in the future.
