Gerald Paul “Jerry” Lavenhagen, 88, of Lake Sara, Effingham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Jerry was born on January 21, 1937 in Philo, IL, the son of William and Eva (Cook) Lavenhagen. He married Loraine Seachrist of Lake Sara, Effingham, in 1981. Jerry served in the United States Army. He worked as an electrician and was a proud member of the IBEW 601 electrical union in Champaign, IL. Jerry enjoyed living and boating on Lake Sara and for 20 years, he and Loraine enjoyed spending winters in Florida with their many friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Loraine; stepsons, Dan (Marilyn) Harley of Corning, AR and Dewayne (Jenny) Seachrist of Effingham; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, William “Bill” (Mary Jo) Lavenhagen of Montrose, CO.

He was preceded in death by his mother Eva; and his sister, Mary Stirewalt.
