Mary Agnes Westjohn (91) of Lillyville

Mary Agnes Westjohn, 91, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at her home in Lillyville, surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lillyville, with burial in the church cemetery.  Memorial donations may be given to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund or for masses at the church.  Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.  Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

Mary was born December 24, 1933, the tenth of twelve children to William and Elizabeth (Auffenorde) Westjohn.  She attended Lillyville Grade School and graduated from Teutopolis High School.  Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Lillyville.  Over the years, she worked on the West Coast, spending time in Idaho, California, and Oregon.  For 18 years, Mary served as the Purchasing Director at Best Homes and National Homes.  She loved playing cards with two local card clubs and had a passion for discussing politics.  Mary also enjoyed being outdoors, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Mary is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary L. Westjohn of Brentwood, CA, and Kathleen Westjohn of Champaign, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beatrice (Wendell) Westendorf, Margaret Westjohn, and Gertrude Westjohn; brothers, Henry (Elizabeth), Francis (Mary Louise), Louis (Ruth), Leo, Robert, John (Carol), Jim, and Tim Westjohn.
