Thomas Howard Wolf, age 62, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 6:45 PM - Sunday, January 26, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, surrounded by his family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  A service celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 10:00 AM – Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the funeral home with Anthony Harris officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in rural Willow Hill, Illinois.  In loving memory of Tom, memorials may be made to the family wishes.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left by clicking here

Thomas Howard Wolf, also known as “Tom” or “Tommy” was born on October 10, 1962, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Howard and Jeannette (Wallis) Wolf. 

Tom was a natural born athlete excelling in the many sports he played. He graduated from Newton Community High School with the class of 1981. Tom married his high school sweetheart Ceretta Ferguson in 1980, and to this union his 3 children were born.  Tom’s love of sports was easily shared with his children.  He could be seen at nearly every one of their sporting events.  His love of sports gave him a lifetime of statistical knowledge that he loved to share with family and friends.  He was an avid Fighting Illini fan. Tom enjoyed fishing and golfing. He loved classic rock and 103.5 could always be heard in the background when visiting with him. Tom began his career as a traveling painter, before becoming a union painter with Local 1705 of Champaign, Illinois.

Tom is survived by:

Children - Maranda (husband Ryan) Tate of Newton, Illinois; Torrey (wife Taryn) Wolf of Newton, Illinois; and Shelby (husband Brett) Lohman of Willow Hill, Illinois

Grandchildren- Drew Tate, Reagan Tate, Lainey Tate, Beckett Wolf, Harper Wolf, Easton Lohman and Krew Lohman

Siblings-
Carol Graham of Newville, Pennsylvania; John Wolf of Estes Park, Colorado; Gary (wife Terri) Wolf of Wheeler, IL; twin sister Linda Cook of Mattoon, Illinois; and David Wolf of Mattoon, Illinois.

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth.
