Richard John Warren (87) of Neoga

Richard John Warren passed away at 1:17 am Wednesday January 15, 2025 at the Heartland Senior Living Center in Neoga, Illinois. Richard was born February 20, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John Wesley and Rose Frances (Dohman) Warren.

Richard married Doris Irene Painter on December. 30, 1961 in the First Christian Church in Effingham, Illinois and they enjoyed 56 1/2 years of marriage until Doris passed away on May 13, 2018.

Richard held many jobs over the years but his longest was as an employee of Norge/Fedders Corp. in Effingham, Illinois. He retired from this firm in February. 2001 after 38 1/2 years.

Richard and Doris enjoyed the great outdoors and traveled extensively during their retirement years as they toured many states on their favorite ride, a Honda Gold Wing trike. Richard also enjoyed gardening and making lovely flower beds with his wife, wood working and restoring various pieces of machinery.

Richard was also a licensed Amateur Radio enthusiast for over 62 years, he was first licensed in 1962. He enjoyed "rag chewing" many hours with fellow Amateur operators around the world.

Together, Richard and Doris completely remodeled their home from top to bottom in 1991-1993.

Richard is survived by three daughters, Doris Hall of Mattoon, Illinois, Rose Seaman of Stewardson, Illinois and Anna (Dave) Ballinger of Trowbridge, Illinois. Also surviving is one sister, Mary Teel of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five -grandchildren; and six Great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his very close and beloved Bassett Hound, "Ms. Tippy".

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Warren, sister-in-law Joann Warren, son-in-law James Hall and granddaughter Brianna Rose Seaman.

Per Richard's wishes, he has chosen cremation rites with no visitation or public viewing.

A Memorial in his honor will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois.

Memorials in his memory may be left to the donor's choice.
