Wayne Charles Bushue, 88, of Beecher City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, Illinois.

Born on November 19, 1936, in Elliottstown, the son of Joseph and Hilda (Koelling) Bushue. Wayne married the love of his life, Wanda Faye Arnold, on June 26, 1959, in Holland.

Their enduring partnership was blessed with four children: Van (Janice) Bushue of Mt. Vernon, Perry (Diane) Bushue of Shumway, Kerry Bushue of Beecher City, and Trudy (Arnie) Rexroad of Beecher City. Wayne was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Jacob) Gann of Franklin, TN, Kate Bushue of Charleston, Tanner (Lauren) Bushue of Henderson, TN, Colby Bushue of Salem, Brandon (Maggi) Sparling of Kalispell, MT, Cole Bushue of Beecher City, Trenton (Caitlin) Rexroad of Mahomet, and Austin (Grace) Rexroad of Beecher City and he adored his five great-grandchildren, Caroline, Vivian, Hank, Cooper, and Camden. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Bill) Funneman of Teutopolis.

Preceding Wayne in death were his parents and siblings Vernon, Everett, Eunice, Norman, and Wilbur.

Wayne's life was rooted in the soil of Illinois, where he farmed his entire life. He was co-owner of Bushue Sawmill for 24 years and dedicated 17 years of service as a welder at Fedders Corp in Effingham. Known for his quick wit and humor, Wayne was always ready with a joke or a famous one-liner to bring a smile to those around him. His presence was a staple at the local coffee shop, where many jokes were told around the table. Wayne's generosity knew no bounds; he was always willing to lend a hand with neighborhood and community projects. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and his legacy of service and camaraderie will be fondly remembered. Wayne's interests were as varied as they were joyful. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, whether it was kidding around with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, giving them tractor or four-wheeler rides, or engaging in his favorite pastimes of pheasant and rabbit hunting. Above all, Wayne treasured the moments spent with his family, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Funeral services to celebrate Wayne's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City, with Pastor Steve Harder officiating. Visitation will commence at noon until the time of service. Burial will follow in Stewardson Cemetery. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.
