Juanita Jean Fuhr (93) of Effingham, formerly of Shawneetown

Juanita Jean Fuhr, 93, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Shawneetown, IL., passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Vickery Funeral Chapel, Shawneetown, IL. Burial will be in Leamington Cemetery, rural Junction. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Thursday, January 23, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are in the care of Vickery Funeral Chapel, Shawneetown, IL and Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Memorials may be made to Leamington Cemetery, Junction, IL. Juanita was born February 9, 1931, in Mountain Twp., Saline County Illinois, the daughter of Lucian and Myra (Ewell) Colbert. She married Harve Fuhr on October 11, 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2024. They were happily married for over 70 years. Juanita and Harve owned and operated Fuhr’s Variety Store in Shawneetown for many years.

Juanita is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife Kathryn; three grandsons, Clayton (wife, Gretchen), Andrew (wife, Kristi), and Carson Fuhr; and two great-grandsons, Reece and Isaac.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harve; sisters, Readith Osman and Freda Vinyard; and a brother, Kenneth, who died in infancy.
