Sandra was born on April 12, 1943, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Betty (Higgenbotham) Weddle. She married Godfrey Duane Brockett on December 18, 1959 in Effingham. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2015, but they are once again reunited. Sandy’s greatest love was being married to her “favorite sailor” and raising their 7 amazing children. They are all going to miss her terribly, she was the glue that held their family together. Having 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren kept her quite busy also – she loved them all with every bit of her heart and just the mention of their names brought a smile to her face.
Sandra is survived by her 7 children, Richard (Connie) Brockett of Effingham, Kenneth (Diane, deceased) Brockett of Jacksonville, FL, Dana (Donald) Stratman of Strasburg, Thomas (Melinda) Brockett of Effingham, James C. (Alisha) Brockett of Altamont, Michelle Brockett of Watson, and Michael (Jackie) Brockett of Greenup; 16 grandchildren, Clifton (Laura) Hatcher, Travis Brockett, Chad (Cara) Brockett, Dawn (Todd) Carter, Daniel Brockett, Matthew Brockett, Courtney Brockett, Seth Brockett, Madison Brockett, Ava Brockett, James Brockett, Tara Torres, Jerry Brockett, Josie Brockett, and Mason Brockett; 6 great-grandchildren, Jayda, Hunter, Georgia, Haylee, Wyatt, and Cooper; 2 sisters, Barb (David) Wence and Lynn Weddle; and her 2 four-legged buddies, Mia and Sailor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Godfrey; daughter-in-law, Diane Brockett; granddaughter, Amber Brockett; and sister, MaryAnn Vail.
The family would like to speak for Sandy with a very special thanks for all the love and help from the following cherished people in her life: Larry Foreman, Linda Wright, Pam Bergfeld, Jessica Beck and Sherri Depoister.
