Dorothy Heiden, age 95 of Flora, Illinois and formerly of Louisville passed away peacefully at 8:16 am Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the Axiom Healthcare of Flora.
Dorothy was born to Charles W. and Louise K. (Bergmann) Heiden on March 20, 1929, in Clay County at the family home. Dorothy cherished her childhood memories of helping her mother tend to and nurture their vibrant flower garden. Her love for nature remained evident throughout her life, as did her passion for solving crossword puzzles and piecing together jigsaw puzzles. Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures, particularly in her cherished pastime of writing letters. She maintained lifelong friendships through heartfelt correspondence, eagerly awaiting replies that brought her delight. Her unwavering optimism and kindness were a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Louisville.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends she had at Flora Healthcare which she thought of them as her family as well.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Howard Heiden, Donald Heiden, Norman Heiden, Dale Heiden, Bonnie McKinney, Mabel Traub, and Florence Griffy.
Funeral services to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Louisville with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. She will be laid to rest in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dorothy's memory to the St. John's Lutheran Church Youth Group.
