Marilyn P. Langhorst, 87, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Marilyn was born on March 23, 1937, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Sylvester and Laura (Pals) Zerrusen. She married Norbert Langhorst on June 13, 1959 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, IL. Marilyn was an avid bowler and served as the president of the Women’s Bowling Association for many years. She would travel to many places to bowl, even out to Las Vegas. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and playing bingo. She enjoyed working at the American Legion Post 120 and was known for bringing in her famous chili.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Norbert Langhorst; daughter, Donna Stumborg; son, Alan Langhorst; grandchildren, Katlin Stumborg, Casey (Austin) Pittman, Lilly Langhorst, and Chloe Langhorst; greatgrandchildren, Kennedy and Oliver; siblings, Jack (Jane) Zerrusen, Larry Zerrusen, and Kay (Joe) Conder; and sister-in-law, Edith Kaufman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Joe and Mathilda (Drees) Langhorst; grandson, Kyle Dorsey; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Zerrusen, Joe (Nancy) Langhorst, Henry (Ruth) Langhorst, and Bert Kaufman.
