John W. Miller, 69, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL, surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, IL. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

John was born on June 10, 1955, the son of Tom and Annie (Kinkelaar) Miller. He married Lisa Landreth on June 16, 1979. John was a lifetime electrician; he worked as a Journeyman Wireman with I.B.E.W. Local 146 for 45 years. He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed serving his community as a St. Francis Township Board Trustee, an election judge, a Boy Scout leader, a T-ball coach, and took pride in lighting up the Teutopolis picnics for many years. He saved many lives as a diligent blood donor. John was so proud of his entire family and would stop a stranger to brag about them. John loved to ride his ATV around his property with Sherman, his “Little Puppy”. He collected and found value in all things, he enjoyed socializing with his friends and loved to joke and tease those he loved the most. John had the most contagious laugh and his outgoing personality brought everyone around together for a good time. “We had a good Time.”

John is survived by his wife, Lisa Miller; children, Jennifer (Tim) Hecht, Tommy Miller, Jared (Jenessa) Miller, and TJ (Jackie) Miller; grandchildren, Korina, William, and Ava Hecht, and Logan, Piper, Lillian, and Blaze Miller, and one on the way; mother, Annie Miller; siblings, Jane (Greg) Ruholl, Roch (Sandy) Miller, Karen Behrman, Vickie (Ronnie) Bloemer, Rich (Diane) Miller, Nancy Probst, Ed Miller, Steve (Melody) Miller, Frank (Laurie) Miller; mother-in-law, Lois Landreth; and sisters-in-law, Nancy (Steve) Moeller and Lynn Kuhn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas W. Miller; brother-in-law, Dennis Probst; father-in-law, Bobby Landreth; and brother-in-law, Larry Kuhn.
