Floyd Alexander Niemeyer, age 90 of Effingham, Illinois and Sun City West, Arizona passed away the evening of Sunday, November 24, 2024 in Effingham.

Mass of Catholic Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2024 St. Mary’s Catholic Church of St. Elmo with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Father Ron Lorilla will be officiating. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Memorials may go to the American Heart Association or the donor’s choice. Floyd was born on March 6, 1934 in Teutopolis, Illinois, the son of Earl J. and Florence J. (Wegman) Niemeyer. He served in the United States Army. Floyd enjoyed doing genealogy research. He was the founder Ad Hatters in Effingham, Illinois, owned several Subway franchises throughout central Illinois.

He is survived by his brother, Al Niemeyer (Janice) of St. Elmo; brother-in-law, James Dial of Effingham; 4 nieces and nephews, Tom Dial (Cottie) of Effingham, Kirk Niemeyer (Lisa) of St. Elmo, Natalie Stout (John) of St. Elmo, and Linda Pratt (Mike) of Charlestown, Indiana; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence Niemeyer; sister, Rita Dial; and niece Theresa Myers.
