Lois E. Smith (92) of Brownstown

Lois E. Smith, 92, of Brownstown, died at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Liberty Christian Church, rural Brownstown with Pastor Clayton Richison officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time. Memorials may be to Liberty Cemetery or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Lois Evelyn Smith was born on Saturday, September 24, 1932 in Tower Hill, IL to Felix and Neva (Kelly) Hinton. She married Clarence L. Smith on October 16, 1955 at New Hope Baptist Church, Tower Hill. They were married for over 61 years prior to his passing on May 1, 2017. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church. In addition to raising her family she was a cook for the Brownstown Elementary School.

She is survived by: her sons, Bradley Smith of Brownstown, Larry (Kathy) Smith of Shelbyville, and Stan (Lana) Smith of Brownstown; 3 grandchildren, Summer (Heath) Summers of Shelbyville, Kolton (Kaitlyn) Smith of Moweaqua, and Connor (Jade Fancher) Smith of St. Peter; 4 great grandchildren, Sophia Summers, Paisley Summers, Eli Smith and Dax Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Floyd Hinton and Larry Hinton; sister, Patsy Hinton.
