Per Patricia's request, cremation rites will take place and her life will be celebrated privately by her family. Memorials may be made in Patricia’s memory to either Sew Nifty Sisterhood Quilt Guild in Flora or Crisis Nursery of Effingham County. Her legacy of spirit, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. Patricia was born October 21, 1942, in Canton, Illinois the daughter of Francis Roy and Frances (Bybee) Herink. She married Neil Swartzbaugh October 21, 1966, in Canton, Illinois and they shared 58 years of marriage. Patricia dedicated her life to nurturing relationships and uplifting those around her with her outgoing, helpful, loving, and humorous nature.
Patricia grew up in Canton, IL, where she attended Canton High School. Always devoted to helping others, Pat was a beautician for many years then as a case worker for families. She furthered her education at Spoon River College, Western Illinois University, and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois. This laid the foundation for her commendable career, as a licensed clinical social worker, where she made significant contributions to the community through her compassionate service. A woman of many interests, Patricia was actively involved with the Fulton County Playhouse, participating in numerous plays and musicals. She also created beautiful flower beds and enjoyed bird watching. Her passion for the arts was matched by her love for yoga, walking, decorating, entertaining, quilting, and most importantly, spending quality time with her family.
Patricia leaves behind a loving family, including her husband Neil Swartzbaugh of Mason, IL, her son Jason Swartzbaugh of Chicago IL, daughter Nicci (Mike) Worthey of Louisville, IL and stepdaughter Michelle Quinones of Canton IL. She was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth (Kyle) Antman of Highland Park, IL, Lauren (Joe) Guerra of Algonquin, IL, Andrew Worthey of Washington, MO, Hannah (Derek) Davenport of Clarksville, MO, Kate Quinones of Canton, Il and Lilly Quinones, of Canton Il. Patricia wasalso blessed with six great-grandchildren, Adalyn Antman, Joseph Guerra Jr., Graven Davenport, Layla Davenport, Ezra Davenport and Isla Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Richard Herink.
