Michael Ray Mize (69) of Shelbyville

Michael Ray Mize, 69, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Shelbyville Health Care and Senior Living.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. – noon on Saturday November 23, 2024, at the home of Carolyn Ruff, 216 North Chestnut Street, Shelbyville, IL, 62565. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family. A private burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL.

Michael was born on September 12, 1955, the son of William Herman and Gladys Winona (Eagleton) Mize of Cowden, IL. Michael attended school in Cowden until 1968 when the family moved to Decatur, IL. He graduated from MacArthur High School in the Class of 1973. Michael attended Style and Dry Beauty School in Decatur and then Vidal Sassoon School in England. He lived and worked in San Diego, CA, returning to Shelbyville years later.

Surviving are his siblings, Stanley A. Mize and wife Judy of Tennessee, Richard E. Mize and wife Linda of Florida, Carolyn S. Ruff and friend Dave Nees of Shelbyville, IL, and Cheryl A. Woods and husband Dennis of Shelbyville, IL; and sister-in-law, Lila Mize of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary H. Mize.
