Chester Ray Reynolds, Jr. (82) of Effingham, formerly of Cowden and Shelbyville

Chester Ray Reynolds, Jr., 82, of Effingham, formerly of Cowden and Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be from noon – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL, with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
Chester was born on February 24, 1942, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Chester Ray Sr. and Flora Ann May (Allen) Reynolds. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1960, and entered the United Staes Air Force, serving from 1960-1964. Chester worked for Trailmobile in Charleston, Roadmaster in Effingham, P & H Manufacturing in Shelbyville and Fedders in Effingham. Chester loved baseball and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed learning about astronomy, reading his bible, and watching old movies, especially Westerns.
Chester is survived by his son, Wes Reynolds (Patty) of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Tina Gordon (Heidi) of Effingham, IL, Becky Cagle (Joshua) of Effingham, IL, and Monica Row (Marcus) of Dieterich, IL; brother, Gene Reynolds of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Hazel Rankin (Pete) of Shelbyville, IL; 13 grandchildren, Kristen Reynolds (Nathan Buff), Aaron Gordon (Kristen Welton Shafer), Christopher Gordon (Calista), Brittany Gordon, Dustin Gordon (Mackenzie Hall), Brett Galloway, Tanner Cagle, Cody Clow (Paige Daiber), Caitlyn Clow, Cailee Clow, Casey Clow (Devon Tucker), Amber Reynolds, and Ashlynn Reynolds; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley Reynolds (Helen); sisters, Clara Hopkins (Kenny), Susie Reynolds, and Ruby Houk (Pete); and infant twin siblings, John and Carrie Reynolds.
