Rosalee “Rosie” Chancellor at the age of 83 went home to meet Jesus peacefully on November 13, 2024.

Rosie was born to Owen and Faye Strain September 22, 1941 in Greenup IL. She had one brother Gene (Pat) Strain of Robinson, IL.

Celebration of her life and entry into Heaven will be on Sunday November 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenup IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 16, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup IL. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery.

Rosie fell in love with her high school sweetheart Donald Dean Chancellor who she married on May 28, 1961. He survives. They had a strong loving marriage and tackled all projects side by side. She will be missed dearly by him but they will be rejoined again someday in Heaven. She is also survived by her daughter Cynthia (Alan) Titus of Toledo, her Granddaughters Racheal (Matt) Sudkamp of Toledo, Kaitlyn (Nate) Haas of Greenup, her Great-Granddaughters Elizabeth and Eleanor Sudkamp, Delilah and Emma Haas and her Great-Grandson Myles Haas. Rosie loved her family and was so proud of each one of them. She showed her love to them with her heartfelt hugs. She would often hug along with a grunt. That’s how you knew she gave you all her love. They will keep her memory close to their hearts as they learn to navigate this world without her. One of her favorite Bible verses will guide their way. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. She is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews who she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Granddaughter Elizabeth Titus and Great Grandchild Payton Haas.

Rosie attended EIU where she received her Masters of Education. Mrs. Chancellor began her 34-year teaching career in Jewett, IL. She retired from Cumberland Grade School as a 4th Grade Teacher. She loved her many students and could still remember their names and families. Each child held a special place in her heart. Rosie was a devout Christian who shared God’s love with others by her words and actions. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and loved and admired by many. Rosie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School class for many years. She composed the Presbyterian News for the Toledo Democrat and Greenup Press recapping the Sunday Sermon by pouring her faith into the articles. She enjoyed music and singing in the church choir and the musical group “Faith Times Four”. She enjoyed reading, studying her Bible and praying for her family, friends and others she did not know when requested. She cherished working in their garden, with her flowers, and winning the occasional first biggest radish contests with her friend, Bob Blade. She was a dedicated Cubs fan and enjoyed teasing with her family of mostly Cardinal fans. She celebrated with her dear friend and neighbor, Sybil Roberts, when they won the World Series. Rosie had a long battle with cancer where she and Don met many wonderful people who quickly became their friends and family at the Cancer Center. The impact of Rosie’s life will be felt for years to come. Rosie’s family and friends will miss her big presence in their lives. We rejoice knowing she is at peace and dancing in Heaven with her family and friends who preceded her while waiting for us to join her. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7.
