Tara was born on November 20, 1980 right after her twin brother, Anthony David Shimboff in Vandalia, IL. She was the daughter of Chris Ray Shimboff Jr. and Sheila Yvonne Freemyer-Dacy. Tara was married to Jamey Ernest Luna for 18 years. They raised three daughters together, Whitney Leilani Shimboff from a previous relationship, Gracie Yvonne Luna, and Sophia Isabelle Luna. Tara was raised primarily in the Terre Haute, IN area with siblings, Nikki Bomgardner, Chris Shimboff III, and Anthony (Tony) Shimboff. Her first daughter Whitney L. was born in September of 1997 in Terre Haute, IN. In July of 2001, Gracie Y. was born in Ottawa, KS. Sophia I. was born in November of 2005 in Effingham, IL. Over the years, Tara’s greatest joy was being a wife and mom and was very involved in her daughters’ activities, sports and hobbies. Her larger-than-life personality knew no stranger as she would make friends everywhere she went. Later becoming a “Yaya” to her beautiful grandbabies was the icing on the cake of motherhood for her. Her unique hobbies included anything colorful and creative she could produce from Hobby Lobby with glitter, sequins or rainbows, making fun of her siblings, publicly humiliating her sister and making others laugh. She loved boot-scootin’ to her favorite country tunes as much as singing at full volume with her girls, sister or nieces in the car. She loved hosting big shindigs for her family and friends with good Mexican food, loads of fun, laughter and whatever hare-brained antics she could imagine to keep people in stitches, was central in her life. One of her greatest bonds and loves of her life was her twin brother Tony. Thick as thieves and usually the two to cause the most trouble, the TTT era may have lost one T, but no one will forget the most “terrible” of the TTT, their 20-day TTT countdown to their birthday or their uncanny ability to sense each other’s pain and joy. Tara took a great deal of pride in finding new ways to humiliate him, tease him or embellish stories of the past to remind him and everyone else of all her triumphs over him.
Tara is survived by paternal grandmother, Mary Shimboff; mother, Sheila Y. Freemyer-Dacy and stepdad, Daniel M. Dacy; 3 daughters, Whitney Shimboff of Effingham, IL, Gracie Luna of Osage City, KS. and Sophia Luna of Lost Springs, KS; 1 grandson, Luka and 3 granddaughters, Marlow, Oaklee and Brinlee; 1 sister, Nikki (never getting married) of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Christopher R.
