Mary Ellen Naber, 86, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Kevin Woods officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday October 27, 2024, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville FFA, Okaw Valley FFA, or Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice.

Mary was born on September 14, 1938, at home in Okaw Township, IL, the daughter of Willis Ray and Leota (Williams) Yantis. She graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1956. Mary married Frederick Allen Naber on September 22, 1957, at the Findlay United Methodist Church. She worked in Dr. Kauder’s Office in Findlay, ASCS Office in Shelbyville, and later as Secretary/General Manager of Naber Grain in Shelbyville. Mary was a member of the Findlay United Methodist Church, ABWA, Shelby County Home Extension, and served as Secretary for Shelby County Health Department Board.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; daughters, Debbie Williams of Findlay, IL, Pam Manship and husband Kevin of Shelbyville, IL, and Brenda Naber of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Scott Darnell and fiancée Sam, Michael Williams and wife Molly, Kevin Darnell all of Shelbyville, IL, Miranda Layman and husband Ross of Newnan, GA, and Garrett Manship and fiancée Aren of Marion, IA; great grandchildren, Skyler Darnell, Khloe Hall, Case Darnell, Raeley Darnell, Malyah Darnell, Arie Williams, Callaway Darnell, Emory Layman, Gatlin Darnell, and Rhett Layman; bonus great grandchildren, Austin and Braden Ryherd; great-great grandson, Niarey Darnell; and her grand dog, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Michael E. Williams; brother, Harold “Wayne” Yantis; nephew, James Lash; and grand dogs, Molly, Meshu, Goliath, and Freddy.
