The family of Linda Jean Schumacher would like to announce her passing on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024.
Linda leaves behind her husband, Gene Schumacher of Altamont, IL, along with her sons, Tyler and Travis (wife Elizabeth) Schumacher. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Colton, Jackson, and Charlotte Schumacher, who were the lights of her life during her last several years.
Born in Effingham, IL, to parents Noami and Lyle Lecrone, Linda was a lifelong resident of Effingham County. She graduated from Effingham High School as a part of the Class of 1978 and married the love of her life, Gene Schumacher, in 1983. They welcomed their first son, Tyler, in 1985 and built their dream home on her family's land in 1988. Shortly after, she gave birth to their second son, Travis. They would continue to live and raise their family in that home for the remainder of her days.
Linda was well known for her spunk, sassiness, and her love of NASCAR and Cowboys football. She kept her brother Mike in line and could keep up with the best of us in any argument. She was a bold and determined mother who would do whatever it took to make her babies and grandbabies happy. She was a lover of all animals and spent a lot of time taking care of her cat, Kit Kat, and her dogs, Roscoe, Brizzo, and Bonnie. Her grandchildren loved and will remember fondly that she would always allow them to give the animals treats.
Her life was not without challenges. Linda fought through cancer and other illnesses and came out victorious numerous times. Her strength in the face of adversity and insurmountable odds is the thing that her family often leaned on and admired most about her. She continues to be that strength as we move forward, even in her death. Linda will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
We will celebrate her wonderful life together on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, at St Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Edgewood, IL. The celebration will begin at 10:00 with prayers, food, and fellowship and will wrap up around 2:00. Thank you for joining us in celebrating a life well-lived.
