Barbara Lou Stortzum (92) of Mattoon

Barbara Lou Stortzum, 92, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at home in the presence of family.
Barb was born on July 24, 1932, in Effingham, IL, the daughter ofThomas Benton and Ada A. (Starner) Rinehart. She graduated from Effingham High School in the Class of 1951 and attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. She married Delbert Wayne “Del” Stortzum on May 19, 1952, and they had four children, Tom, Tim, Mark and Melissa. Later in life, Barb and her husband, Del, owned DWS Retail Consulting which is currently operated by their sons.
Barb is survived by her sons, Tim and Mark Stortzum, both of Moffat, CO; daughter, Melissa Masters of Mattoon, IL; sister, Beverly Voris and husband Steve of Casey, IL; and two granddaughters, Aimee Goodwin ofMattoon, IL and Jordan Masters of Denver, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Del on March 20, 2021; and son, Tom Stortzum.
Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. At Barb’s request, no services will be held. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and mailed to Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
