Karen Lee Wood, 83, of Beecher City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at home.

Karen was born on March 9, 1941, in Pana, Illinois, the daughter of Byron and Gertrude (German) Anderson. She was a 1959 graduate of Pana High School. Karen married Holley "Hollywood" Wood, on November 10, 1962, at the First Christian Church in Pana, a union that was filled with joy and companionship until Holley's passing on October 9, 2012. She worked as a bookkeeper for Samuel Music/Midco International in Effingham for 37 years. Karen was a 10-year member of the NSDAR Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter in Effingham. In her spare time, Karen enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, attending festivals, bowling, birdwatching, playing games with friends and family and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her son, Brett Wood of Beecher City; daughter-in-law, Linda Wood (Scott Woodward) of St. Elmo; grandson, Cody Wood of Greenwood, Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.

A celebration of life gathering was held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City followed by dinner at Greenland Baptist Church. Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
