Harry Pogue, 80, of Aurora, formerly of Altamont, died at 10:21 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, at The Reserve at Oswego, Oswego, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Fr. Mike Clark officiating. There will be a Masonic Service at 9:00 a.m. followed by visitation until service time. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the donor’s choice.

Harry was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1944, in Mt. Vernon to Walter Edward and Virginia (Tincher) Pogue. He married Carolyn Sue Bartolomucci on June 21, 1969, in Mt. Vernon. Harry was a current member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Naperville and a past member of St. Laurence Episcopal Church, Effingham, and was a member of Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676, Altamont, Jefferson Post #141 American Legion, Mt. Vernon, Altamont Masonic Lodge #533, and Ainad Shriners and Valley of Southern Illinois Scottish Rite. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968. Harry was employed for 32 years as a communications installer and retired from Lucent Technologies in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Carolyn of Aurora; son, Dustin (Melissa) Pogue of Winter Park, FL; daughter, Carissa (Corey) Hammer of Aurora; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Samuel Hammer and Alejandro Pogue; brothers, Walter (Ann) Pogue of Mt. Vernon and Tim (Rita) Pogue of Nason, and several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Sylvia Pogue.
