Tom McCash, age 74, of Greenup, IL passed away on August 27th, 2024 at Carle Hospital in Champaign, IL.

He was born November 11th, 1949 in Casey, IL to Frank and Bonnie McCash.

Survivors include his children Meriah McCash of Martinsville, and Milo McCash of Greenup. Also, he was a father to Shawn Harris and Shelly Harris. He had 7 grandchildren. His siblings are Ben McCash, Barb Lawrence, Carol Hille, and John McCash.

He was preceded in death by his son, Sean Patrick McCash and both of his parents.

Tom graduated from Casey High School in 1968. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He seemed to understand better than most what the important things in life were and he sought approval of no one. He lived life on his own terms. Tom was a welder at Tub-Lok and Trailmobile and worked at Stevens Industries in T-Town for a number of years. He was an outdoorsman; he loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid horticulturist. He was a good ol boy, an original Hillbilly, and an absolute legend to those who knew him. He hosted an annual McCash Bash for 51 years. He loved to be among friends and he had many. He loved to sing and write songs. He was a skilled wood carver, a lover of pies, a maker of maple syrup, a gunsmith, a sharpshooter, a wordsmith, and a poet above all else.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 at the Casey First Christian Church at 200 SE 8th Street, Casey, IL from 10am-1pm with military rites at 1230pm and a catered lunch after for anyone who would like to stay for it. Please come, share a story and remember a man who was larger than life.
