David B. "Dave" Hille (65) of Shumway

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David B. “Dave” Hille of Shumway, Illinois, at the age of 65. Born September 3, 1958, to Leo and Anna Hille of Effingham, Dave passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at his home.

Dave was a co-owner of Jett Concrete in Jacksonville, Florida for 30 years, and retired in 2016. Dave loved spending time with his family and his beagles. He also enjoyed playing solo, checking crops on his ATV, mushroom hunting, rabbit hunting, gardening, cooking, reading, and watching the Cardinals and Steelers. He was a member of the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus.

Dave is survived by his mother, Anna (Schabbing); siblings, Elizabeth (Gary) Harris, Catherine (John) Stephens, Paul (Terri) Hille, Margie (Scott) Timmins, Lori (Michael) Lohman, and Gerald (Angie) Hille; 6 nieces, 8 nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends Pat, Kristine, Kurt, Kody, and Aimee Jett.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Leo E. Hille, and brother, Henry L. Hille. Dave was known for his clever sense of humor and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Green Creek. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Green Creek. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.
