Daisy May Hobson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Stewardson, Illinois, on August 16, 2024, at the age of 82. Born at home in Mattoon, Illinois, on June 8, 1942, Daisy was the loving daughter of Jiles and Florence (French) Nichols.

On July 8, 1961, Daisy married the love of her life, Junior B. Hobson, and together they built a life full of joy and dedication to their family. Daisy's nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Junior, of Stewardson; her daughters, Lisa (Bruce) Shadwell of Stewardson and Vanessa (Michael) Quinlan of Willow Hill; her cherished grandchildren, Karissa Quinlan, Sean (Bri) Quinlan, Dakota Shadwell, Patrick Quinlan, Ethan (Meriah) Quinlan, and Tristan Quinlan; and her adored great-grandchildren, Allaina and James Vahling, Eddie and Emmi Quinlan, Elmora and Mekay-im Quinlan, and the soon-to-arrive Asta Quinlan. Daisy's memory will also be treasured by her siblings, Naytella (Tom) Hawkins, James (Jan) Nichols, Jiles (Kathryn) Nichols, and Ray (Candy) Nichols, along with many nieces and nephews. She joins in eternal peace her parents; her daughter, Teresa Foreman; her sister, Eva Sue O'Day and her brother, William Nathan Nichols.

A 1960 graduate of Windsor High School, Daisy was a woman of many talents. She ran the Hobson Upholstery Shop in Stewardson and was renowned for her exquisite seamstress work, creating beautiful wedding dresses, prom dresses, and more. She also brought joy to many through her work at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and Walmart in Effingham, where she worked for 14 years.

Daisy's deep faith was evident in her long-standing membership at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson. There, she touched countless lives through her dedication to teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Together with Junior, Daisy was also a devoted long-time member of the Illinois Old Time Fiddlers Association, where she contributed her time and talents as Secretary/Treasurer.

Her zest for life was reflected in her many interests. Daisy was an avid reader, a skilled seamstress renowned for her Halloween costumes, a collector of panda memorabilia, a dulcimer player, and an exceptional cook who relished preparing meals for family gatherings. Above all, Daisy loved spending time with her grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Weaver officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Stewardson Cemetery. Memorials in Daisy’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.
