Larry was born at home in rural Effingham County, IL (Heartville) on December 27, 1937. He was the son of Fletcher and Alice (Tedrick) Robards. He married Marilyn (Teiffel) Robards on June 12, 1960, at the Dieterich Christian Church. The couple has resided in Dieterich since their union.
Larry was a devoted family man who dedicated 32 years of his life to working with World Color Press. He later retired from World Color and spent 16 wonderful years in what he considered "the most rewarding job" at the American Red Cross.
His commitment extended beyond his professional life; he was an active member of the Dieterich Ruritan Club, Latona Church of Christ, the Bishop Township Board, and the Village of Dieterich Board. He enjoyed hunting, in which coon hunting was his most favorite, fishing, NASCAR races, and cherishing time with family and friends.
Larry's kindness, gentle nature, and wisdom were reflected in his many stories and his ever-present smile. Larry will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering care for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be deeply missed.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Teiffel Robards; his daughter, Tina Robards; his son, Brad (Thresa) Robards; and his daughter, Leslie Webb (Tom Lohman). He was a proud grandfather to Eric (Chelsa) Robards, Kyle (Kaylee) Webb, Kevin Robards (Justin Reyes), Kelsey Webb, and Jennifer Robards (Matt Goedde), and a great-grandfather to Avery Robards, Alaina Robards, and Maxwell Webb. Also surviving is his sister, Norma (Cloyce) Rife, along with two nieces and two nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Alice; in-laws, Lester and Irene Teiffel; and sister-in-law, Carol Sue (Teiffel) Meyer.
