It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Holly Jean Wesley, age 48, of Effingham, Illinois on Friday, August 2, 2024 after a prolonged struggle with multiple health challenges.

Holly was born on May 6, 1976 in Hampton, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Lieutenant Colonel Glen B. Wesley (Retired) and Barbara S. Wesley.

She is survived by her fiancé Ross W. Doran of Effingham, IL; daughter Neve P. Doucet of Baton Rouge, LA; son Chase M. Doucet of Los Angeles, CA; mother Barbara S. Wesley of Baton Rouge, LA; sister Becky W. Murrell of Baton Rouge, LA; sister Amanda L. Wesley of New Orleans, LA and grandson Enzo D. Contreras of Baton Rouge, LA.

She is preceded in death by her son Chaz D. Doucet, daughter Marigny M. Doucet and father Glen B. Wesley.

Holly was employed by Choice Hotels brand (Comfort Suites). She was a lover of all music and had a particular affinity for Christian music. Her love for horses was evident from a young age. Whether riding English or Western, she found freedom and joy in the saddle. She also had a deep appreciation for the excitement of rodeo. Her enthusiasm for the sport was matched only by her love for wrestling, a sport that mirrored her own fighting spirit. Holly was a woman of generosity, always willing to help those less fortunate. She faced adversity with immense courage and a tenacious spirit. She will be remembered for her strength, resilience and rebel heart. Her memory will forever live on in those who knew and loved her.
