Jane F. Austin (73) of Teutopolis

Jane F. Austin, 73, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Jane was born on March 2, 1951, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of James “Jim” and Marcella (Riemann) Bourgeois. She married Norvan Dean Austin on October 21, 1972, and he preceded her in death on October 16, 1984. Jane worked for many years at Teutopolis State Bank, as well as Teutopolis Grade School in the lunchroom. She also owned and operated the Stagecoach Restaurant in Greenup, IL. Jane had a caring heart and always put others before herself. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, family genealogy, and local history.

Jane is survived by her son, Kevin Austin of Teutopolis; significant other of 24 years, Robert R. Cox of Greenup, IL; siblings, Karen (Don) Westendorf, Patty (Chuck) Mette, Nancy (Ken) Antrim, Mark Bourgeois, and Dan Bourgeois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norvan Dean; and son, Brian D. Austin.
