Helen “Ruth” Ridgley was born May 3, 1958, in Olney, the daughter of Donald and Goldie (Fulk) Ridgley. Coming from a large family, Ruth knew no stranger, she loved life, her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite advice to her kids was “Do as I say, and not as I do”. As a kid, she enjoyed roller skating and then taught her children to skate. As she got older, she would go to garage sales to look for a bargain. She had several hobbies in her lifetime, but what she enjoyed most was being a private sitter and caretaker for those that needed help, as she loved to serve. When she had the time, she could be found sitting on her front porch smoking cigarettes and sipping coffee.
Ruth is survived by her daughter: Jessica Buckels-Gersch of Olney; sons, Colt Buckles of Effingham, Cole (Sara) Buckles of Olney; grandchildren, Quortney (Cory) Newell, Lyndsey Akes, Landen Gertsch, Ally Buckles, Sterling Buckles, Lily Buckles, Meika Buckles, Rhett Buckles, Kloe Elder and Dalton Buckles; great-grandchildren: Aviana, Azalea, Covington, Knightley and Sovie; siblings, Donnie Ridgley of Olney, Frank and Peggy Ridgley of Noble, Bob and Karen Totten of Noble, Kathy Ridgley of South Point, Ohio and Betty Richards of Olney.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Marlene Aldridge, Terry Totten, Jerry Totten, Pat Ridgley, Mary Ridgley, Robyn Ridgley and brother-in-law Clarence Richards.
