Larry G. Alcoke, 77, formerly of Effingham, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at his home in East Galesburg.

Private family graveside services with military rites will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham.  Memorial donations may be given online to the Air Commando Association. https://aircommando.org

Larry was born September 15, 1946 in Effingham, the son of R. H. and Myrna V. (Elliott) Alcoke.  In 1968, Larry joined the United States Air Force and served for four years.  He later married Marilyn E. Brown, who preceded him in death in 2022.  Larry worked as a respiratory therapist at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Galesburg Cottage Hospital for many years.

Larry is survived by his brother-in-law, Dennis E. (Lois) Brown; his nieces and nephews, Richard (Kay) Mette, Steven Mette, Cheryl (David) Cornwell, Chris (Robin) Brown, Jay (Diane) Brown, Tracy (Chris) Caylor, and Beth (Mike) Mines.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Darlene Mette, and niece, Mary Lynn Mette.
