Lois Strom (92) of Effingham

Lois M. Strom, 92, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Willowbrook Memory Support Residences in Effingham.

Lois was born on July 27, 1931, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Theodore and Marjorie Nordstrom.  She married Arthur D. Strom on August 20, 1950.  He preceded her in death on January 24, 2019. Lois grew up in Moline and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign.  That is where she met Art, the love of her life.  Lois and Art were married 69 years.  Together, they traveled to all 50 states and 65 different countries in the world.  They were both avid Illini fans and held season tickets to football and basketball games.  She and Art delivered Meals on Wheels, rang the Salvation Army bell, and were greeters at the Cross.  Lois was a PEO member and active in the Newcomers Clubs.  They were members of the Presbyterian Church as they moved to different locations in several states.  Lois and Art were very sociable and always had many friends.

Lois leaves her daughter, Linda (Peter) Cirzan of South Elgin, IL; sons, Steven Strom of Effingham and Mark Strom of Billings, MT; grandson, Adam Strom of Palatine; and granddaughters, Sarah Strom of San Francisco, CA and Molly (Nate) Strom Mount of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; a child in infancy; and brother, Donald Nordstrom.
