Winona Reisner, 96, of rural Gila, IL passed away at 11:55 am on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Helia Healthcare of Newton, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery in Gila, IL.
Winona was born on June 2, 1928, in Jasper County, IL, to John and Jewell (Raper) Wilson. She married Mervyn L. Reisner on September 24, 1949, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2022.
Survivors include daughters, Debra (Gary) Michl and Jane (Harold) Field; grandchildren, Ryan Michl, Courtney (Travis) Miller, and Dylan (Brittany) Field; greatgrandchildren, Hunter, Graci, Marli, and Kinli Michl and Mackenzie, Megan, and Maleah Miller; sister Wanda (Kenny) Starwalt; brother Larry Wilson.
She was only 10 days old when her mother passed, her father married Ione when she was about four, and she raised and loved Winona as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, and sister-in-law Patsy Wilson.
She was a homemaker and farmer's wife. She was a member of the Gila Lutheran Church. She attended the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Newton, IL. Winona was an excellent cook and got great joy from fixing her family all their favorites. They would have a big garden every year and Mervyn would tend to it and she would can the produce. They were able to enjoy many winters in Florida, Mervyn would go fishing and she would catch up on visiting with the ladies in the campground.
