Bessie was born August 13, 1932 in Effingham County, the daughter of Walter and Blanche (Poynter) Bloemker. She married Norman Budde on October 13, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Louisville, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2010. Bessie led a busy life on the farm caring for Norman and their five sons. She still found time to work at Roslyn Cafe, Lakeland Nursing Home, and Camp Walter Scott. In her later years, she enjoyed trips to the barn and pasture to water her cows on her golf cart. That came to an end when she had a stroke where she ended up at Evergreen Nursing Home. She always enjoyed family and friends who came to visit.

Bessie is survived by her sons, Terry of Effingham, Gary (Janice) of Effingham, Lyle (Lou Anne) of Effingham, Brian (Liz) of Watson, and Darren (Nancy) of Altamont. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Ruby (Andrew) Parks, Eileen (Asa “Junior”) Woods (Dean) Chesnut, Ruth (Carl) Boatman, Bertha (Leroy “Bud”) Leesman, and Juanita Yeazle; and daughter-in-law, Joyce (Niemerg) Budde.

Bessie’s family would like to thank Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the years of care and Karen and her Hospice group for the extra attention.
