Charlene French went to be with her Lord on May 28, 2024, at Baylor St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.

On Monday, June 3, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM there will be a visitation followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. On Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM there will be a visitation at A&M Church of Christ in College Station, Texas. Charlene was born on March 1, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of James and Willena (Hensley) Bostic. She was blessed with a Christian home, and her love for God guided her life. She attended Johnson Bible College and met her devoted husband there. She married Donald French on July 14, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a city girl that became a farm wife who loved her husband and nurtured her children. Charlene was a member of Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois, where she loved playing the piano and organ for church services, weddings, and funerals. She was also a youth sponsor and children’s teacher. When her husband became a minister, she loved being a preacher's wife and was an example for many. After moving to Texas, she became a member of A&M Church of Christ in College Station, Texas, and enjoyed their small group and Bible studies. Charlene taught piano lessons for many years. She was an avid seamstress and cook. Charlene loved attending to her flower beds and enjoyed camping, boating, motorcycle trike riding with her husband. After her children were grown, Charlene went back to college and was a Registered Nurse for 15 years. She had a servant’s heart. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed challenging them in card games and “washers”. Charlene was a best friend to Don and all three of her children. Her joyful smile, good humor, love, and kindness will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Don French of College Station, Texas Daughter Ann Marie (Cliff) House of McAlester, Oklahoma Son Daniel French of San Francisco, California Daughter Jessie (Andy) Mitchell of College Station, Texas Brother Dave Bostic of Avon, Indiana; Sister Kathy (Jeff) Moore of Avon, Indiana; Grandchildren: Caleb (Kensi) House, Casey (Savannah) House, Mackenzie Mitchell and Jacob Lippert, Haley Mitchell, Eli Mitchell She is also survived by her beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents.
