Robert “Bob” J. Dooley, 94, of Greenup, Illinois passed away at 7:05 pm on Sunday May 26, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Mahomet, IL.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on June 10, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Memorial visitation will be from 11:00 to service time at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery with Military Rites by the Cumberland County Veterans.

Bob was born on February 14, 1930, to Olin and Virginia (Pfeifer) Dooley, in Lincoln, IL. He married Joyce Etter on June 9, 1951. She preceded him in death in 2017.

Survivors include his daughter Belinda (Brad) Sanders; and sister Marilyn Stayton; grandchildren Jackie Renfroe, Zane (Alie) Dooley, Landon (Sabrina) Dooley, Jake (Lauren) Sanders, Kaite (Celia Smith) Sanders, and Thad (Kelly) Dooley; great-grandchildren Delaney, Riley, Evan, Zander, Victoria, Lily, Katelyn, Samuel, Cordelia, Everett, River, Skye, and Elliotte arriving in August of 2024.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, son Mike Dooley, brothers Kenneth Dooley, and Jim Dooley.

Bob served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He worked as a children’s shoe designer at Ettelbrick Shoe Company in Greenup. After his time at Ettelbrick, Bob worked for Adidas in Hong Kong, worked for L.A Gear in California, and worked in Guangzhou, China for an athletic shoe importer. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and an Illini Basketball fan, attending several games with Kaite, Jake, and Lauren. Each of his grandchildren can tell stories of learning to drive with Grandpa Bob as he would take them out in the country when they were visiting. All of them knew he (& Grandma) were a phone call away from helping them with anything they needed.
