Mary Ellen Workman, 84, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020, in Leesburg, Florida.

Garlin D. Workman, 93, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 also in Leesburg, Florida.

Mary Ellen was born on November 28, 1935, in Louisville, Illinois the daughter of Isom and Edna McKnelly of Louisville. She had worked many years for the North Clay School District as a teacher and administrator. Education was important to her and she spent many quality hours with her grandkids. Garlin was born on February 13, 1931, in Ingraham, Illinois the son of Walker and Isola Gertrude Workman of Ingraham. Garlin served his country honorability in the U.S. Army having enlisted in 1953 and served in Germany during the Korean War. Garlin worked most of his life as a farmer and later loved to tend to his garden, and share his crops with all his neighbors.

Garlin and Mary Ellen wintered in Florida for over 30 years with many family and friends.

They are survived by a daughter: Kimberly (Workman) Travis; daughter-in-law: Debbie (Rauch) Workman; 6 grandchildren: Reid Travis, Courtney (Aaron) Musgrave, Austin (Kaycee) Workman, Walker Workman, Benjamin Workman, and Clare Workman; 4 great grandchildren: Maggie, Max, Austin, and Raynee.

They were both preceded in death by their parents, and Garlin was also preceded in death by his loving wife; son: Dana Workman.

A joint memorial service will be held to celebrate the lives of Mary Ellen and Garlin on their 70th wedding anniversary at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Ron Payne and Mike Elliott officiating. Burial will follow for them both at the Ingraham Cemetery with military graveside honors for Garlin’s service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and then on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary Ellen and Garlin’s memory to the Bible Grove Chrisitan Church Building Fund.
