Dean Gengler (69) of Effingham

Dean R. Gengler, 69, passed away peacefully in his Effingham, IL home on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Shumway, IL. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Following the service, the family will be gathering at A1 Liquors on Highway 33 in Effingham to reminisce and share their favorite memories of Dean, who is already so greatly missed. Dean, the son of Raymond and Marjorie Gengler, was born on September 13, 1954 in Remsen, IA. He was blissfully married to Betty Morgan for 44 years and a proud father of four to Brooke, Nicole (Zach), Kelsey (Brandon), and Nate (Sylvia). Dean is also survived by his three adorable grandsons: Dane, Kayce, and Nolan. Dean is remembered with love by his wife, children, grandchildren, mother Marjorie, and sisters Deb, Cindy, and Sheila, along with their families.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, and grandparents.
