Julie Greeson, 62 of Marion, Illinois passed away at 2:05 P.M. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by those she loved the most.

Julie was born on December 15, 1961, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of John Ross and Anna Belle Koester. She grew up in Charleston, Illinois and was a 1980 graduate of Charleston High School. After high school Julie met the love of her life, Mike Greeson. They were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charleston, Illinois on May 9, 1981. Together they shared a happy life for almost 43 years. From that union they had one daughter, Christy. She was the sparkle in her mother’s eyes and her greatest joys were found while spending time with her. They often shared time together for a “girls day” out or just staying home enjoying each other’s company. Julie enjoyed riding her motorcycle and traveled through as many as 23 states while riding. Some of those trips included places like Montana, Wyoming, and Key West. She transitioned into a trike motorcycle in 2017. She was also an avid Nascar fan, especially driver Kyle Larson. In October, Julie was granted a “Bucket List” trip of going to a Nascar race, where she and her family traveled by plane and spent four days soaking up a lifetime of memories. There was a special book made that Julie was so proud of that she shared it with friends and visitors often. Julie worked as an assistant manager at K-Mart in Mattoon, Illinois for 20 years before moving to Marion. Once her family was settled in Marion she began working as a receptionist for SIMCA. She was a dedicated and allegiant employee for 21 years. The patients and staff loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Greeson; daughter Christy (Jared) Stone; mother Anna Belle Koester; brother John (Shirley) Koester, Jr; brother in-law that was like a brother to her, Kent (Michelle) Greeson, along with many friends and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her father John Koester; her father and mother in-law Robert Greeson and Lenora Richey.
