Karen Dixie Koester (58) of Taylorville

Karen Dixie Koester age 58, of Taylorville passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Newton Care Center, Newton, Illinois.

A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rick Britton officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday in the funeral home.

Karen was born on March 13, 1966 in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of Jim and Dixie (Dale) Hamilton. Karen was home health care giver and certified nurses aid. She loved blue grass music. She played the guitar, often playing for the family for hours at a time. She was an ordained minister. She loved to talk and visit with people. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews and her dog.

Karen will be loved and remembered by her children Gage Stasser of Clay City, IL, Dakota (Taylor) Koester of Altamont and Kinder (Lance) Johnson of Florida; siblings Tina (Mike) Cole of Jewett and Jim (Dolly) Hamilton of Hunt City; brother-in-law Jimmy Shamhart of Wheeler; several nieces and nephews and companion George Tilton of Taylorville.

Her parents, sister Brenda Shamhart, and nieces Bridget Tyler and Mika Judy preceded her in death.
