Susan J. Thomason (77) of Effingham

Susan J. Thomason, 77, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her home in Effingham, surrounded by her family. 

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a time of visitation being held from 2:00 pm until service time. Memorial donations may be given to HSHS Hospice. 

Susan was born October 4, 1946 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Oliver and Lula (Foreman) Gustin. She was adopted at birth by the Gustin’s who were wonderful, loving parents. She married Larry Thomason on January 16, 1965. When Susan was 65, she found out she had 8 half brothers and 7 half sisters. She maintained contact over the years with Trish Caldwell of Kentucky, Diane Riddle of Tennessee, and Larry Shoemaker of Kentucky. Susan was a loving wife and mother and spent her working years in New Jersey as a Registered Nurse. She loved reading books and watching British movies.

Susan is survived by her husband, Larry of Effingham; son, Stephen of Mattoon; daughter, Jaimie (Christine) of Effingham; brother-in-law, Ken (Velma) Thomason of St. Elmo; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Gail Jones of Ohio, Brandon Marsh of Vandalia, Eric Poorman of Mattoon, Gary Carr of Mattoon, and Teresa Cass of Brownstown; her furry friends, Mr. Scruffles, Henry, Stanley, Ollie, Luna, and Lacey.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and son, David.
