Leonard Flood (92) of Jewett

On March 4, 2024 Leonard Flood passed away peacefully at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on ­­­­­­Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St Rose Catholic Church in Montrose with burial in St. Rose Cemetery with military rites.  Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024.   Memorial donations will be given to St Rose Cemetery.

Leonard was born on April 1st, 1931 the son of Joe and Anna (Lustig) Flood.  Leonard served in the army during the Korean War.  He married Joan Beckman on August 3, 1957.  They were married 66 years until Joan’s passing on August 18, 2023.

Leonard was a farmer; it is what he loved and lived for his entire life. His true happiness was his family and his farm. He led a happy life doing what he loved to do.  He was a wise man with a big smile, a kind heart, and lots of good stories. He loved hunting with his sons and grandkids and truly enjoyed it when everyone would stop by deer camp to tell their stories. Leonard and his wife raised deer and loved to show them to whoever stopped by. He never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a member of St Rose Catholic Church, Toledo American Legion, VFW, and Knights of Columbus.

Leonard is survived by four sons, Ron (Marie) Flood, Leon (Sheri) Flood, Joe (Cheryl) Flood, Dale (Cari) Flood; two daughters, Jane (Ben) Steffen and Beth Harmon; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan Flood, 5 brothers, Harold, Bernard, Leo, Bob, and Kenny Flood, and 3 sisters, Irene Jurris, Anna Marie Klein, and Loretta Meinhart; son-in-law, Scot Harmon.
