Dolores Eleanor (Donsbach) Huelskoetter, 94, of Altamont, IL passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Paul’s (Blue Point) Lutheran Cemetery in rural Altamont, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Dolores was born on May 26, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Dina (Saathoff) Donsbach. She was baptized on July 27, 1929 at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gifford, IL, and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham on May 17, 1942 by the Rev. P.F. Plunkett. On June 20, 1954, Dolores was united in marriage to Leland Huelskoetter in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, IL, by the Rev. H.E. Zimmermann. They were married for 61 years before Leland preceded her in death on August 17, 2015. Dolores and Leland were blessed with one daughter, Judith Ann. Dolores was a member of St John's Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for 25 years, was a member of the Girl's Choir, Adult Choir and was a soloist, singing for many weddings and funerals. She worked at the First National Bank of Effingham from 1947 until 1965.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Simmons of Altamont; two granddaughters, Grace Simmons and Emma Simmons; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland; one sister; and three brothers.
