Delores Eytchison (91) formerly of Dieterich

Delores Lucille (Feldkamp) Eytchison, age 91, formerly of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 7:15 AM – Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Concordia Village in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM – Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church 13204 North 2300th Street Wheeler, Illinois 62479 (north of Dieterich). The burial will be in the St Paul’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 PM – Tuesday, February 20, 20224, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, and again from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the church. Delores was born on July 30, 1932, in rural Dieterich, Illinois, the daughter of Alma Feldkamp Habing. She attended school in Dieterich and graduated from Effingham High School with the Class of 1950. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, with a degree in physical education. In her 30 years of teaching career at Carmi and Mascoutah, Illinois, “MRS E” taught Physical education and health education. She also coached field hockey and track teams.
Delores married Gene Eytchison on August 2, 1957, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church and he survives.
After their retirement, Delores and Gene began a 17-year career with Laborers for Christ, building churches, schools, and hurricane clean-up and restoration. Retiring again to the Dieterich area where they volunteered on many projects and remained active in the St Paul’s congregation. They moved to the Concordia Village in August 2019.

Husband of 66 years – Gene Eytchison
Sons – Denver (wife Debbie) Eytchison of Auburn, Illinois; and Dallas (wife Jana) Eytchison of Columbia, Illinois
Grandchildren – Laura Eytchison, Tony (Sarah) Eytchison, Tom (Brittany) Eytchison and Anna Eytchison

Delores was preceded in death by her mother, and an infant son Paul Eytchison.
